Joyce Muniz – Please Break My Heart
So first up this week I wanted to share a track called ‘Please Break My Heart’ taken from the LP Exploited which was produced by one of my favourite female DJs, Joyce Muniz. It’s upbeat, catchy and if you’re still not convinced then those melodic vocals guaranteed to get stuck in your head are sung by a man named Dave! Not sure if Dave even has a surname – it’s just Dave.
Huxley – Can’t Sleep
Now although released in 2012, I wanted to include a track from a UK DJ who’s been firmly on my radar for the past year – it’s Huxley with ‘Can’t Sleep’. For those who perhaps haven’t heard of him or his music before there’s definitely a reflection of garage in there with the majority of his house stuff being bass led. I’m also partial to a synth or two which is probably why I like this tune.
Martin Ikin – What You’ve Done
In keeping with the ‘garage tone’ of things so to speak but changing the tempo slightly is a new deep house track by Martin Ikin – ‘What You’ve Done’. A follow up to Martin’s debut on the OFF Recordings label this tune has soulful vocals, a flowing bassline and a definite crowd pleaser on the dance floors in my opinion.
Celsius – Incoming
Number 4 this week is new track by south London producers Celsius called ‘Incoming’ and God it’s good! I first came across Celsius earlier this year with their track ‘Thought As Much’, but this is the one. Pacing rhythm, vocals throughout and I’m very much looking forward to its release on the 23rd September.
Basement Jaxx – What A Difference Your Love Makes (Brixton Market Garage dub)
And finally, track número cinco is a great remix of a track from a very famous duo who, after a long two year silence, have returned – it’s Basement Jaxx ‘What A Difference Your Love Makes (Brixton Market Garage dub)’. The tune only received its exclusive first play on Radio 1 last Friday evening so if I was going to quote R.Kelly I’d say its ‘fresh out the kitchen.’ Definitely a dance floor driver.
