It was fairly surprising when a new song from SBTRKT popped up on Twitter, but it was a pleasant change of pace from songs that featured on his debut album. With a lovely intro that is somewhat reminiscent of Jamie XX’s “Far Nearer,” and carrying on in with the post-dub genre, “Gloss” is a wonderful track. It’s by no means his heaviest or most danceable track, but it’s a step in a new direction and shows that he can pull off this a different sound. If his future EP’s or albums carry on with the same dense music that features on “Gloss” then it can only be something to look forward to.
