Straight off the bat it’s probably worth saying you’re likely to hear from Oli Shilling a fair bit over the next few years. If you didn’t know already, he’s the mastermind behind Comodo and a vital part of Out The Woods Clothing, the 100%-for-charity-clothing-range offering designs from the likes of Bastille and Bear Cavalry.
His new and entirely independent project sees Shilling take 100 of his favourite albums and redesign their covers – no mean feat even for such a talented graphic designer. He says: “I’ve seen similar projects to this before, but often where people make up band and album names to design for. That seems a bit silly to me, I much prefer to draw inspiration from the music and to design whilst revisiting a great album I may not have listened to for years is perfect. The idea is to upload a design every day, along with a track from the album.”
The final plan is for Shilling to produce what will most likely be a one off book for himself, but we’ve got a feeling this could find a willing market somewhere down the line. Covers so far posted include Arcade Fire‘s debut Funeral, The Maccabees‘ Wall of Arms and Caribou‘s Swim.
