I wasn’t going to write this article as I know this Mansfield based band personally and didn’t know how to encourage you all to listen without sounding like one of those pushy mothers that thinks their precious son will be the next Chris Martin. But then I realised it doesn’t matter whether I know them or not, and the fact that I really like their music is neither here nor there. It’s up to you guys to form your own opinions about them, I’m just giving you a heads up on their existence.
(NB: I am not the mother of any of the members of this band.)
Five piece indie rock bands are rife all over the UK, struggling to find a place within the already crowded music industry. So why is The Wired any different? Well the truth is, they’re not but their heavy guitar based sound and raw and rough vocals make them an instant crowd pleaser. They have a serious knack for song writing, producing tunes that have exciting riffs and poetic lyrics and the only downside I can find is that they’ve currently only released four songs, leaving me (and hopefully all of you), impatiently waiting for more.
Their first EP, Hold Me Close, was released in September this year and is available to listen to on Soundcloud.
Keep an eye on them via their Facebook page for news about gigs and tours.
