Only the other day I broke some personal boundaries posting electronic music. Today I bring you a band hyped by the one and only Jay-Z. Yep. I’d say we’re at about the mid-point of my ascent to a full on urban wig-out right now, but y’all should trust me when I say that my judgement of Polica is no result of poor mental health. For a band consisting of Gayngs and Bon Iver alumni, it came as a little bit of a surprise to hear the percussion-heavy, hypnotic push-and-pull of latest track ‘Lay Your Cards Out’. It’s dark yet lively, auto-tuned almost to oblivion and sounding like some of the most original stuff 2012’s seen so far. Their debut record Give You the Ghost is most likely not in your local HMV, but a little bit of net-surfing will see you unearth the beauty.
