Sometimes I get moments when I know I like something, but I’m not really sure why. It’s easy to see why ‘Cocoa Hooves’ is a good song; it has that lovely, slightly electronic, dark and brooding, but also poppy vibe that makes me go weak at the knees. But the video is a different matter. I like it, I think, but there’s just not much to it. Different shots of a glass head, filled with dry ice, inks, leaves, covered in slugs, and words; ostensibly it’s a video of nothing at all. There’s no real structure, no development, but it’s one of those videos that passes on merit alone. The smooth cinematography, slow motion captures, and trippy inks are all very pleasing to the eye, and I guess that’s all a video has to be.
