I think what has made HAIM so popular in such a short space of time is that they’re just three normal, totally relatable girls… but like a thousand times cooler and making music that sounds like Fleetwood Mac meets TLC (which somehow avoids being an unbearable disaster).
The video for new single ‘Falling’ sees them reclining on plush armchairs in the forest, performing some sort of rain dance on top of a mountain, and catching fish with their bare hands in glittering rock pools, not to mention a fire worshipping ritual where they’re all draped in curtains. So yeah it’s basically a home video of a typical HAIM family holiday with just a little bit of editing, soundtracked by tribal drums, disco-guitar riffs and some incredible melodies.
Of course this is all done with the usual Rapunzel hair tossing and the kind of dance moves that you’d imagine if Beyoncé attempted dad disco dancing. And it’s brilliant.
