Keaton Henson’s debut album Dear is a raw, tender and deep album. But before you check out his work, be aware that it is not an uplifting listen. It is beautiful but extremely depressing, with the possible exception of ‘Sarah Minor’. Keaton Henson’s music is stripped-back and packs an emotional punch. It’s an extremely intimate insight into the mind of this curious man.

Every song on this album is overflowing with emotion and has managed to make me cry buckets in the time I’ve owned it. Keaton’s music is simple and down to the point; there are no crappy effects piled on top of his performance, just a small, bearded man in a tweed suit, pouring out his heart and soul into an album. Personally ‘Sarah Minor’ has to be the winner for me on that album. Lyrically the song is golden, though perhaps I have to favour it as Sarah is my name… and he signed my vinyl “To Sarah, not minor.”

Whilst listening to this man’s music, I can’t fight off the urge to hunt him down and give him a hug, and some kind of hot beverage.
