Asa
Having not released much in a while but obviously working away Asa finally brings us his new release alongside With Joyful Lips, who are also ones to watch.

This release takes acoustic folky melodies and intertwines them with a future garage vibe to give something overall very powerful, deep and beautiful.

‘Françoise’

The first track on the EP has a humble feel with sweeping violin and all kinds of other strings plucked away over warm wooden drums with Asa’s signature percussion. Giving off a deep forest vibe that almost sounds oriental. Not to forget the reversing switch ups that add that little bit of zest.

‘Forgotten’

I can’t decide if this or the Stumbleine remix is my favourite from the EP, but this is defiantly the stand out track. Amazing uplifting summer feel to this one, if the strings don’t give you goose bump’s especially once the drums kick in… Well then I don’t know what will. The drum arrangement is too good in this again, same sort of drums to Francoise but this time with a 2 step skipping garage feel that makes you want to boogie and move your head. With a deep lyrical break down as well it becomes a naughty number for all occasions dreaming, partying, by the fire etc.

‘Leave the light on’ (Stumbleine Remix)

Now having heard this maybe two years ago I didn’t think I was going to see a full version of this, but I almost burst when I saw it on this release. The original was amazing and the remix is just as good but in a different way, Stumbleine’s lovely Shoegaze style guitar moves through the signature vocal samples from the original. Parts of the piano melody have been taken and dampened to fit with the nostalgic vibe echoing throughout the track. Again nice warm drums but from the likes of stumbleine carrying the track along. The huge, massive deep bass line gives that extra emotional impact. This ones just dreamy deep goodness for all the people that get taken in by these tunes, this is up the top somewhere…..in the clouds.
