Once again, Dan Smith and the boys have created another cd of beautiful music.
I had the pleasure to see the BASTILLE in October, not only did I get to see them, I got to socialise with them for a good hour afterwards and I assure you they are equally as lovely as the music which they make. At the gig I managed my hands on my very own hard copy of the ‘Laura Palmer EP’ nearly 3 weeks before it was even released to the general public.
Honestly I fell in head over heels in love with this EP like I have with EVERY other cover and original BASTILLE has done. Their music has literally been on repeat on my phone, iPod, computer and in my head ever since my friend scrawled them down in her diary to show me back in March last year.
I can’t choose a personal favourite of the E.P by choice, but the track with the most plays on my iTunes is ‘Get Home’. I feel it is exceptionally beautiful, as it does describe a time of life everyone experiences; personally it feels to me like the narrative voice is questioning where their life is actually going. Weather or not this is what it means or not I’m not sure. All the songs on the new E.P are fantastic, I had to buy it twice to make sure I got the acoustic version of ‘Laura Palmer’… but the investment was well worth it.
I honestly can’t wait for the Album later this year and the chance to see them live again soon as possible!
