Every single artist signed to 4AD tends to be pure gold, from Grimes to St Vincent, 4AD have become the record label you can trust to always put out the best. This makes Purity Ring’s debut album highly anticipated, and the singles from it critically examined. ‘Fineshrine’ is the second single to be released by electronic duo, and the track is a masterpiece of eerie and twisted pop. Opening with the lines “get a little closer let it fold/ cut open my sternum and pull/ my little ribs around you”, this is not your casual love song. Yelps at left, right and centre with pulsating synthesizers complete the effect and enshrine the whole thing in a mystical vibe. I assure you, the Purity Ring album will not be one to miss.
