The Heartbreaks love Bruce Springsteen (who doesn’t, though?), so it’s no huge surprise that they chose to cover his track, ‘I’m On Fire’. They said of the cover, “’I’m On Fire’ is one of the B-sides to our next timeless boomer of a single ‘Polly’, and is one our favourite songs from one of our favourite albums of all time”.
The Morecambe lads definitely do ‘I’m On Fire’ justice, and even put their own jangly twist on the song. Ryan Wallace brings Springsteen’s amazing riff to the forefront with his stand-out strumming, and Matthew Whitehouse sings the lyrics like he wrote every single word himself. The new B-side is more of an interpretation than a cover, because The Heartbreaks have taken the original and made it their own by doing what they do best: being themselves.
‘Polly’ was released 3rd September, and is now available to buy and download.
