The greatest thing about The Tallest Man on Earth is the fact that we share a birthday. The second greatest thing about him is the fact that every time I hear a song of his I can’t help but stop and listen, and almost certainly put it on repeat and listen it another four or five times after that. His latest single is ‘1904’ taken from his third studio album There’s No Leaving Now which was released on 11th June on Dead Ocean Label. Yes, he is does sound a little bit like Dylan but don’t let these comparisons be all you can think of when you listen, ‘1904’ is beautiful in its own right. The combination of acoustic guitar and vocal is stunning, as per usual, with wonderfully written yet ambiguous lyrics which, once again come to expect but Matsson keeps us on our toes with a transition into the electric – how very Dylan-esque – with a gentle lead guitar providing an ambient warmth to the track, which certainly adds to this effortlessly satisfying composition.
