There’s a new addition to the dark neo-psychedelic school of cool that The Horrors and S.C.U.M have built. Step up Toy. This five piece from London fit perfectly into that kraut rock, punk, and psychedelia drenched scene, so it’s no wonder that The Horrors have been singing their praises from every rooftop they can get their drainpiped legs to climb. With slots supporting The Horrors and an old-school residency at the Shacklewell Arms in Dalston, Toy are making a name for themselves and their affiliation to these other two bands will guarantee them fans. You need look no further than comments on their youtube videos such as “The Horrors + S.C.U.M + Toy = <3" for proof of that. 'Left Myself Behind' is their first single out on Heavenly recordings and what do we think of it? It's a seven and a half-minute tune that doesn't quite let you know where its going next and yet it remains catchy and addictive. With the bass and drums definitely holding the song together, Synths are left to roam and whir over the top of the song and ethereal guitars provide a swelling grandeur to the song that make it the massive tune that it is. Personally I love it. With only two songs available to listen to on the internet, these guys are a bit of a mystery but they've got a really cool vibe and no shortage of respectable praise to back them up and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for these rockers.
